FIRST GENERATION

1. Colonel Allen Jones (photo) was born on 25 Oct 1809 in Hancock County, Georgia. ⁽¹⁾ He died on 8 May 1856 in Cartersville, Georgia. ⁽¹⁾⁽²⁾ Colonel Allen died at the home of his brother, Jim (James). At the time of his death, he was a citizen of Chambers County, Alabama. He was buried in Madison, Morgan Co., Georgia. ⁽¹⁾⁽²⁾

He has a large monument over his grave. The inscription on the monument reads "Born in Hancock County, Georgia October 25, 1809 and died at Cartersville while on a tour for his health, May 8, 1856, being at the time of his decease a citizen of Chambers County, Alabama." He served in the military. ⁽¹⁾ He was a colonel in the Mexican War.

He was married to Martha Carolina Eckles on 29 Nov 1832 in Madison, Morgan Co., Georgia.⁽¹⁾ The marriage record is at Madison, Georgia. Martha Carolina Eckles was born in Jan 1810.⁽¹⁾ She died in Nov 1893 in Opelika, Lee Co., Alabama.^{(1) (3)} She was buried in Rosemere Cemetery, Opelika, Alabama. ⁽¹⁾ Colonel Allen Jones and Martha Carolina Eckles had the following children:

3 ii. Laura A. Jones was born on 26 Jul 1834.⁽¹⁾ She died on 29 Oct 1835.⁽¹⁾ She was buried in Madison, Morgan Co., Georgia.⁽²⁾ She is buried near her father.
