When Minor W. Havis died, all of his sons were away at war. He is believed
to be buried in an unmarked grave in Loachapoka, Alabama. He resided Winnsboro,
South Carolina; Shelby County, Alabama; Chambers County, Alabama; and Loachpoka,
Alabama.(1)
In the 1840 Census, Chambers County, Alabama, Minor Winn Havis and his brother,
Jesse D. Havis, Jr., were living seven houses apart, with their families in Oak

He was the first coroner of Shelby County, Alabama in 1819. He had a hotel,
cabinet shop and blacksmith shop in Loachapoka, Alabama. He had the first saloon
in Newnan, Georgia in 1828. He was cited for running a tavern without a license

He
was married to Martha W. Judge on 31 Dec 1818 in Winnsboro, Fairfield Co., SC.
(1) They settled in Dadeville, Alabama.
Martha W. Judge(1) was born
on 6 May 1800 in Virginia.(1) She died
on 5 Dec 1828 in Winnsboro, Fairfield Co., SC.(1)
(2) She died of tuberculosis. When
she became ill, she returned to the home of her father-in-law, Colonel Jesse
Havis where she died. She is probably buried at Winnsboro, South Carolina.

was also known as Patsey.(1) Martha W.
Judge was the daughter of James Judge and Christian Hilliard Judge. Minor Winn
Havis and Martha W. Judge had the following children:

He was married to
Sophia Cooper on 10 Jan 1833.(3)
(1) He married Miss Cooper after the death of his first wife. They
made their home in Loachapoka, Alabama. Sophia Cooper
(3) was born on 3 Feb 1814.
(1) Miss Sophia Cooper was much younger than her husband. Minor Winn
Havis and Sophia Cooper had the following children:

William C. Havis(3). During the Civil
War, he was a Lt. in Company I, 3rd Alabama Regiment. He died in battle at Lyunchburg,
Virginia.
