TWIN CITIES
BLIND AUDIO DART LEAGUE
RULES OF PLAY
Last Updated: June 27, 2009
(newest changes in item 10 regarding stats per banquet meeting)
- Games start at 6:30 P.M., provided there are two players
from each team. A 15-minute grace period is allowed before the
first game. Any team with less than three players forfeits all
games.
- The determinations of play:
- Captain or team member will call the coin toss.
- The winner of the toss will determine whether they will
shoot first or second.
- The team shooting first will present their line-up.
- The team shooting second will present their line-up.
- When the line-ups are given, there will be no changes,
even in the case of a dummy position (unless determined by the team
captains or team member before the match).
- Instructions for the Game 301:
- Two quarters from each team are deposited.
- The teams are to play 6 games in the following order:
1-2, 3-4, 1-3, 2-4, 1-4, 2-3
- Team A will shoot first and third positions and Team B
will shoot in the second and fourth positions.
- The verbal instructions of the machine will be followed
(i.e., player’s turn, when to throw, and when to remove the darts).
- The shooting player is responsible for pressing the
player change button for the next player, finding the darts, and
removing darts. Failure to exercise these functions results in
the player paying the cost for restoring the game (i.e., activation of
a dart before the PLAYER CHANGE button is pressed).
- If a player shoots out of turn, or any other misplay
occurs, the CHANGE PLAYER button is pressed and the offending player
will pay for the restart of the machine. The game will be
forwarded to the round and scores of each player. If this is not
possible, the game will be restarted.
- The reset button will be pressed after each player’s
turn. If this is not done and the following player shoots, no
voice will be heard. However, if the next player throws a dart
that does not register, the CHANGE PLAYER button will be pressed and so
will the dart, if the dart does not stick in the board, the dart will
be thrown over.
- The game of 301 has nine rounds, unless a player zeros
out, providing that Team A’s combined score is not greater than that of
Team B (i.e., if Team A has scores of 1 and 20 and Team B has scores of
5 and 5, player 1 of Team A cannot zero out or shoot). If the
blocked team shoots, zero’s out, and is still blocked, then a penalty
is issued where the person on the winning team gets the game point and
the person with the low score on the winning team receives the low
score points.
- The player on the winning team whose score is lowest is
awarded the Low Score. If both players are tied, they are both
awarded 2 points.
- A ton is 100 or more points in one three dart round.
- A ton and a half is 130 or more points in a three dart
round.
- If the game is tied at the end of the ninth round,
additional rounds will be added until a team obtains a lower score or a
zero-out. If a tie remains after round 15, one round of Count-Up
is played and the team with the highest combined score wins.
- Players are required to furnish their own equipment,
i.e., blindfolds, darts, and accessories.
- The point value of a dart is determined by the
machine. In the case of a machine malfunction, captains will
decide what course of action to take.
- Points awarded to individual(s) are as follows:
- Zero Outs - 3 points
- Low Score Outs - 2 points
- Low Score Outs (tie) - 2 points each player
- Tons - 1 point
- Tons and a Half - 2 points
- Every player must wear a blackout blindfold.
- Players with physical disabilities who may have problems
adjusting to the shooting line may use a chair, walker, wheelchair,
spotter, or any other means of adjustment to make the competition fair.
- Teams should have their own spotters, unless agreed upon by
the opposing team. No physical contact during time of play.
Verbal instruction allowed only before the shooter throws.
- The player cannot step on or over the line while
throwing. For individuals in wheelchairs, their torso must be
behind the line.
- All players must put
their blackout blindfold on while having their back to the board and
before lining up to the shooting line.
- Stat sheets: both team captains
are responsible for sending, calling, or emailing them in by noon the
following Saturday. (Two sets of stats helps verify accuracy) If a team does not submit scores on time for that
week, they will lose 3 points from their total team score even if they did not win any points that week.
- If there are only three players, the fourth player dummy
score is 100 points:
- A fee to be set by the Board of Directors prior to each
season will be paid by each team every week.
- If a dummy score is used, the person who is missing
will be responsible for paying.
- If a person leaves before they play all three games,
they must use a dummy score.
- If a person leaves in the middle of the game, their
remaining score is what they use.
- Each team can have up to five active players with the sixth
player in reserve.
- All players in the league must be of legal drinking age;
or, play on a team with their parent and have that parent present when
they play.
- There will be a substitute list available and kept by the
captain's representative. A player can be added to the substitute
list at any
time prior to or during the season. Teams can also add a rostered
player at any time during the season as long as their team has no more
than 5 rostered players.
If a substitute from the list is used, team is responsible for the
substitute players dues.
- All team captains must be responsible for turning in team
money by the 5th day of the following month or their team will lose 3
game points.
- Noise should be reduced to a minimum in order that players
may listen to the board.
- No discrimination or sexual harassment will be tolerated
during league play.
- All players are responsible to act with good sportsmanship
and to extend courtesy to others at all times.
- All make-up games must be played prior to the last
scheduled week of the current season.
- All league members must be considered a player in good
standing and have played a minimum of ½ the season to receive
money back at the end of the season.
- All new teams must start at the beginning of the dart
season..
