Unconfirmed story of their marriage: Dora and Joseph married, had a child and then Joseph "went off to war". He was reported killed in action and Dora, apparently a widow, moved to the United States and married Peter. Some time later Joseph, alive and well, showed up. The arrangements made are unknown, but Joseph disappeard again and was not seen thereafter.

Dora next married Peter Levi Allard, son of Winfield Scott Allard and Clarrie Berdine, on 10 December 1912 in Grand Marais, Cook, Minnesota.¹ (Peter Levi Allard was born on 11 February 1883 in Huron, Beadle, South Dakota,^{5 1 6} died on 14 May 1970 in Grand Marais, Cook, Minnesota ^{5 1 6} and was buried in Tofte, Cook, Minnesota ¹.)
