Eugene Thaemert

Eugene C. Thaemert, 70, of 1812 Knapp St., died Sunday at 12:24 a.m. at Mercy Medical Center where he had been a patient six days.

He was born in Glencoe, Minn., on March 15, 1900, son of Louis and Emma Thaemert, and was married to Helen Scott on Feb. 14, 1924.

Mr. Thaemert had been employed by the Soo Line 43 years in signal maintenance, and was general chairman of Local 6 of Brotherhood of Signalmen at the time of his retirement in August 1965.

He was a member of First United Presbyterian Church, former elder and clerk of the Session of the church. He was a member of Oshkosh Lodge 27 of Masons, Oshkosh Comandery 11 and Chapter 12, a past patron of Oriental Chapter 16 of Eastern Star and past watchman of the shepherds of Bethel Shrine 2 of White Shrine of Jerusalem, and member of Oshkosh Chapter of American Association of Retired Persons.

Surviving are his widow, Helen; one daughter, Mrs. John Van Slochtern, Bristol; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Seefeld Church Avenue Chapel, with the Rev. Lowell M. McConnell, pastor of First United Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Memorial Park.

Friend may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-9 p.m. Masonic service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m."
