  Things to check:

The 1900 US census says she's the mother of 5 children, 4 of whom are living -- but only lists three children. The 1910 census says the same thing.

The 6 Apr 1918 Arcadia Tribune (Arcadia, California) has this gossip item:
"Mrs. C. A. Rouleau of Los Angeles spent the week-end with Mrs. W. R. Slater."

The 20 Apr 1918 edition of the same newspaper has this item:
"The Misses Helen and Minnie Cosibella and Mr. Dewey Rouleau spent Sunday at the home of his sister, Mrs. W.R. Slater. In the evening the party motored to Venice."

Is Mrs. W.R. Slater the missing child? 1 4
