  General Notes:

Frances's birth certificate lists Josef as a "landwirt". Loose translation as "farmer' but is more akin to "wealthy landowner" or "lord of the manor".

Regarding Joseph's birthplace, Mitzka (proper name Repcemicske) was, at the time of his birth, a town in Hungary. After 1921, the Austrian Province of Burgenland was formed when an area consisting of parts of several Hungarian Provinces (including the town of Repcemicske) were ceded to Austria. At that time Repcemicske took it's German name, Strebersdorf. 8

"OHR -- Joseph, Oct. 11, at St. John's hospital, aged 64 years, residence 752 Juno St. Survived by his wife, Elizabeth, two sons, Julius and Joseph, and four daughters, Mrs. Edward Wahlauf, Mrs. Olaf Hallberg, Mrs. Frank Ohr and Anna Ohr, all of St. Paul. Funeral from above residence Thursday morning at 8:30. Services at St. Francis de Sales church at 9 o'clock. Interment Calvary."

Josef married Elizabeth Weitz, daughter of Joseph Weitz and Anna Jessel, on 21 February 1887 in Lutzmannsburg, Austria.1 2 (Elizabeth Weitz was born on 3 March 1868 in Lutzmannsburg, Austria,15 16 17 18 died on 24 December 1962 in St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota 16 19 20 and was buried on 26 December 1962 in Calvary Cemetery, St. Paul, Ramsey, Minnesota 18.) The cause of her death was pneumonia.3

  About his marriage to Elizabeth:

• The marriage was witnessed by Antonius Pfeiffer, Michael Kern, Stephanus Krutzler and Josephus Pfeiffer.
