  Notes on his death:

"Obituary of Late Louis Chevalier -- Was Pioneer Settler of Jessenland Township and This City

The late Louis Chevalier who died on the 7th inst., and of whose passing announcement was made in the columns of The Investment last week, was for many years a prominent farmer of Jessenland township, retiring from the farming 1909 when he and his wife came to Henderson to reside. During his long illness his wife constantly waited on him and everything possible was done to prolong his life. But his Master deemed otherwise and called his soul to everlasting peace.

Louis Chevalier was born October 24, 1843, at St. Alphonsus, Canada, and came with his parents to Minnesota in 1858, settling at New Auburn, Sibley county. From that place he went to St. Paul about 1862 where he worked for a few years; while there he married Adeline Goulet July 14, 1867, and they came to Jessenland the same year and settled on a farm. He is survived by his wife and seven children, namely: Louis Chevalier, Jr., of Jessenland; Mrs. Joseph Gondreau, of St. Paul; John Chevalier, Shevlin; Mrs. Lizam Beliveau, of Jessenland; Mose Chevalier, Newport; Alice Chevalier and Mrs. John Bertrang, of this city; he also leaves a brother, William Chevalier, of Sumter, and three sisters, Mrs. Chas. Degree, of Glencoe; Mrs. Fred Merchant, of Sumpter, and Mrs. William Wilson, of Minneapolis.

The funeral was held on Thursday morning, with services at St. Joseph's Catholic church, this city, Rev. Father Kaufmann officiating, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery of that parish. The pallbearers were: Nelson Norman, James Healy, Jerry Joyce, Thos. Sweeney, Math. Heinz and William Burke.

Among those in attendance at the funeral, from a distance, were: Mose Chevalier, of Newport, John Chevalier, Shevlin; Mrs. and Mrs. Joseph Gondreau, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Goulet, Le Seuer; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Kenedy, St. Paul; Mrs. Leslie Smith, Minneapolis; Mrs. Mary Bertrang, Ed. Bertrang, Mrs. and Mrs. Math. Haggenmiller, Arlington, and William Chevalier and Fred Merchant of Sumpter.

The many friends of the bereaved join with us in extending sympathy to the bereaved relatives."
