Name on 1910 US census appears to be Norton, but it's indistinct.

1910 US census says his father was born in Ireland, mother in Pennsylvania.

Broadway Theatre Manager Had Worked for Todd -- "Mayor of 45th Street"

William G. Norton of 235 West End A-venue, a. theatre manager and company manager, died yesterday in Lenox Hill Hospital after an illness of several months. He was 73 years old.

Mr. Norton began as an usher in the Empire Theatre, in 1902 and at the same time completed a course in pharmacy at Columbia University. He graduated in 1906.

After his graduation. Mr. Norton was treasurer of various Broadway theatres, including the Shubert. In 1921 he became manager of the Music Box Theatre for Sam Harris. Earl; in the Nineteen Twenties. he owned a drug store in_ Great Neck, L. I.

During his theatre career, Mr. Norton was company manager for Michael Todd's productions of "Something for the Boys" and "Mexican Hayride." He also had been manager for "Chicago," "The King and I," "Lady in the Dark" and "Kiss Me, Kate."

After serving as house manager for Mr. Todd's Chicago theatre showing "Around the World in 80 Days," Mr. Norton took his last position, company manager of "A Raisin in the Sun" on tour. A dapper man who wore a carnation in his lapel, he was known as the "Mayor of Forty-fifth Street."

Mr. Norton had been vIce president of the Theatrical Managers and Agents Union. He was a member of the Treasurers Club, The Lambs, the New York Athletic Association, the Grand Street Boys, the Jewish Theatrical Guild, the Catholic Actors Guild and Actors Fund.

Surviving are his widow, Sidelle; two daughters, Mrs. Michael E. Lenzi and Mrs. Charles S. Schwaeble Jr., and a grandson."
