Hannahs Story... ten to twelve months

(June 2002 through August 2002)

5 June 2002

My cousin Nick paid me a visit en route
to the UK from New Zealand.

He felt it necessary to modify my eating
program somewhat, claiming this stuff
is better than mashed sweet potatoes.

Tastes like plastic to me.

10 June 2002

Think I can get a few bucks from the
nice people at Coca-Cola for this one?

No, I'm not really drinking it,
but when you're cutting teeth,
chewing on an ice cold can is as
good as it gets!

21 June 2002

There is no funny title for this one.
She really is that cute :)

28 June 2002

Hannah goes to School and puts her thinking cap on...
literally! She is participating in a study of Infant memory at the
Institute of Child Development (ICD)
at the University of Minnesota.

That's a pretty tolerant child, if you ask me!
It takes about 15 minutes to get the cap on and squirt
conductive gel into the middle of the electrodes and then
get something stuck to your cheek to monitor for blinking
(not shown here !). Didn't seem to faze her in the slightest...

28 June 2002

Here's the results of Hannahs second visit
to the ICD...

2nd July 2002

Back at the ICD - just before donning the cap for
the last time; one more visit to go, at the end of July.

4th July 2002

My first Independance Day.

I guess I have a few years to go before
I get to throw off the oppresive rule of
the English (Dad being English and all)

But I can stick my tongue out at him now...

7th July 2002

This hot, sticky weather is yuk!
90° F (32.2° C) with a dew point
of 72° F (22.2° C). It's not tropical
but it's not particularly comfortable.

The only thing a girl can do is
put on a suitable hat,
go down to the pool and
go sail a boat.

11th July 2002

That's an old-fashioned look...

12th July 2002

They said I'd like this refreshing melon
but it seems a bit tough to me.

17th July 2002

Dad says this swimming thing is worth doing.

I'm doing it because it's fun.

I kick my legs and paddle with my arms,
I'm sure I'd go along fine if he'd just let
me go. He just keeps on about not trying to
drink the pool dry or some such thing...

7th August 2002

I can climb, I can stand,
I can walk a bit...

I'm pretty pleased with myself,
all in all!

7th August 2002

The outside world.

It's big and green and...
Wow.

20th August 2002

Waiter! More Water, please...

20th August 2002

What do you think of my latest
"Safety Outfit" ? Should stop me
from bumping into things.

Might help me float too...

28th August 2002

We're going back to Where ?
