This area of my web site dedicated to the memory of my father and his love of poetry and the English language. I have acted as editor and selected poems from both English and American sources. I also include appropriate works of the English language that are not poetry, but might as well be for their effect. The timeframe ranges from the thirteenth century to the nineteen-sixties. My ear tells me my voice - inflection, intonation, rhythm - does not do justice to these great works. Therefore, I have enlisted the aid of a great family friend, the Dr. Robert Ashton Morgan, a retired Presbyterian minister, to read for us. Dr. Morgan
You should see two audio controls in the table below. If you don't see at least one of them, please e-mail me - I would like to work through instructions on this page so folks can install an audio plugin. If you see both, see which one let's you hear the poems more quickly. If you connect to the Internet through a telephone modem, I would be interested in learning whether you could hear the poems in a timely fashion. Here below is a test poem for you to try.
