A Quick Glance

Policemen's abilities (Energy / Substance / Support) are minimal for a creature. There's not much it can do to defend in combat, so you have to protect it with other creatures, resources or flash cards. Or, you can side it to use it's special ability (remember, a sided card cannot be attacked.)

So why bother including it in your play deck? What's so special about drawing an extra card? Let's take a look...

A Detailed Look

Restock your depleted hand

Let me tell you about the time my opponent had a hand full of cards. I had no defense in the future zone, my bonus time zone was _not_ the future zone, and the one card I had in my hand was not going to help me out. To make matters worse, everytime I did manage to draw a future creature and play it, my opponent would destroy it immediately.

If I had a Policemen in play, I could have been drawing extra cards to restock my hand, and double my chances of getting the card I needed. As it was, my opponent _did_ have a Policeman, and thus managed to obtain a hand full of cards in the first place! Don't underestimate the advantage of having alot of cards in your hand. The more cards you have, the more choices you have.

Find that card you need more quickly

As mentioned above, the ability to draw an extra card each turn increases your chance to find that one card you've been waiting for. Remember, there is no limit to how many cards you can hold in your hand, so don't worry about having too many cards (unless, of course, you run out of cards in your play deck, in which case you'll start taking hits each turn you need to draw a card and can't).

I will always include one or two Policemen in my play decks. Unless you have some other strategy that doesn't need extra cards, you should put one in your deck, too. Of course, most strategies require specific cards to be in play, and drawing more cards increases your chance of playing that strategy. I guess that means no strategy should be without a Policemen!
