Brothers Of Demnos, The
|
The abilities (Energy / Substance / Support) are fairly minimal for a creature. There's not much a single Brother Of Demnos can do to defend itself in combat. But put more than one of them in play, and watch out! The Support value is essentially equal to the number of copies of The Brothers Of Demnos in play, in any zone, and on any side.
So, if you have three copies in play, and your opponent has none, their support value is 3! That's a good support value. If you're opponent also has two copies in play, then the support value for all of them is 5! That's a fantastic support value!
You might not initially think of this, but you can move your Brothers Of Demnos around to different time zones, and they continue boosting each other's support values. The card text says "in play", not "in the same zone." So, put one in each zone, and you have three support available wherever you need it.
The strength of this card is in having multiple copies of it in play. Since it's non-unique, you can place four copies in your play deck. Do it! In my opinion, it's one of the best creatures you can play in the past zone.
Let's examine some of the possibilities of using the added support...
With support values like 3 or higher, you can easily and quickly solve those pesky episodes your opponent plays. A mere three Brothers Of Demnos can solv even the toughest episodes, such as Genesis Of The Daleks. And you can solve episodes without having to side your entire population of creatures, which would leave your defenses down.
Again, with support values like 3 or higher, you can add large amounts of energy and substance to your main combatant. Say, for example, you have a Rutans (another great card!) and three Brothers Of Demnos in the past zone. Make your Rutans the main combatant. It can copy the support value of 3 from the Brothers Of Demnos. Side your three Brothers Of Demnos to support the Rutans, and it is now at an 8/4 (or 11/1). Add one more Brother Of Demnos to the mix, and you can get that Rutan up to a whopping 10/9 (or 17/1). That's nearly impossible to beat!
In short, multiple Brothers Of Demnos can make a formidable defense and offense. Make sure you include four copies in your play deck.
