My favorite board wargame is World in Flames, and has been for years. When I found that Benoit's Unofficial World in Flames home page was shutting down, I decided to set this one up to keep some of his material available on the Web, add what I could, and collect anything else that people might want to add. Please feel free to submit WiF, DoD, and FA stuff to me.
Current material available (much straight from Benoit Vaillette's site):
World in Flames is a game produced by the Australian Design Group. It represents World War II on a grand scale, with mostly corps- level units, individual ships, and detailed aircraft units. It includes diplomacy, production, and logistics, and its maps show every major land mass and ocean area involved in the war. It is surprisingly playable, considering all that.
World in Flames went through five numbered editions, and then ADG produced the Final Edition, presumably to reassure those of use who had played multiple previous editions. The Final Edition also folded in the various additional material ADG had produced, and cleaned up a lot of rules. (The one thing I don't like about Final Edition is the new maps, and that's a matter of taste.) Final Edition was also much better polished and playtested than anything I've seen ADG do before. I intend to play it for many years to come.
Fatal Alliances is a World War I variant. Days of Decision is a diplomatic game running from 1936 through 1946, and is compatible with the last edition of World in Flames. There are rules here to make it work with the latest edition, although DoD still has some flaws. DoD came in two editions, which are different enough to amount to different games. The second edition allows most of the diplomatic maneuvering that actually went on, and is fully compatible with WiF, 5th edition. There are experimental rules (mentioned below) that make it compatible with Final Edition. The game still has major flaws, but I've never seen such a game without them.
