Alva Isobel Riley
Alva Isobel Riley died August 26, 1988, in Stockton California.
Alva was born November 19, 1910 in lake Mills the daughter of Henry and
Josephine (Johnson) Hintz. She attended school and spent her childhood
in lake Mills.
She attended college in Cedar Falls, Iowa, where she received her
teeaching degree. Later she earned a cosmetology license. She had a
beauty shop in Lake Mills and Northwood, Iowa, Alameda and Oakland,
California. She later was employed by the State of California in
Stockton, Calif., until the time of her retirement. She had been a
resident of Stockton, Calif., since 1949.
She was married in 1933 to Howard Hodgman. They had one son, William
H. Hodgman.
Survivors include her husband, Edward S. (Jack) Riley, her son,
William, and wife, Jean, and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Howard Hodgman, her
second husband, Arthur Uhl, her parents, Henry and Josephine (Johnson)
Hintz, one sister, Evelyn (Hintz) Marmon.
