This house was built in 1913 by the Midway Creamery as a home for their acting manager (aka, the "buttermaker"). Whenever a new manager would take over the creamery, he would take up residence in this house. Eugene Kruckeberg was the buttermaker at Hope Co-op Creamery from 1964 until it was sold to new owners in 2001. And AFAIK, he's still working there making butter.
