EASYX

Custom Software for the EasyDCC RS-232 Interface

Now with full support for extended (4 digit) addressing!

EASYX is a simple DOS executable that allows you to use your PC to perform various tasks on your EasyDCC system

EASYX is freeware - there is no obligation to download and use it any way you see fit

EASYX is offered as is - no guarantees are made abouts its utility or usability

Using EASYX you can:

- Stop and start the main track clocks (big deal)

- Maintain a locomotive roster (including locomotive and decoder manufacturer and model)

- Program decoder CVs on the programming track or the main track. This includes plain English descriptions of what each CV does and the ability to program in decimal, binary, hex, low-byte/hi-byte, or lo-nybble/hi-nybble (customized by decoder type and manufacturer)

- Display Command Station memory (handy for problem solving)

- Add, update and remove consists (both standard and advanced)

- Change locomotive speed step settings and function settings

- Operate locomotives

- Dump your locomotive roster to a text file

- Dump your decoder CV settings to a text file

- Program custom speed tables and transfer them from one loco to another

What you need to use EASYX:

- An EasyDCC Command Station (well, duh)

- A personal computer (PC) configured to run DOS (or a DOS window)

- A special serial cable connected between the RS-232 port on your EasyDCC Command Station and the serial port (COM1 or COM2) of your PC. Contact CVP or consult your EasyDCC manual for more information on this special cable

How to run EASYX:

- Create a directory for EASYX

- Download EASYX.EXE Version 1.3 and save it in your EASYX directory

- Run EASYX (either double-click on it from windows, or open an MS-DOS window, then CD to your EASYX directory and type "EASYX")

Note! Your Command Station must support extended addressing in order for you to be able to use EASYX. If you have an old version of the Command Station firmware (2-digit addressing only) EASYX will blow up real good if you try to use it.

Obtaining Source Code:

If you're writing your own software and would like to see how I did something, feel free to take a look at the EASYX source code (in C), here it is:
