November

2 November - Dallas (-7) at Philadelphia, 37 Over/Under

Road favorites are usually a risky pick, especially when the home opponent is as desperate as the Eagles are. But this Dallas team is good enough to win, and win big, just as they did earlier this year against New York on Monday night. I would love to see the Birds win this game. I just don't think it will happen.

Just Terrible

The Eagles, I mean. My pick was right on the money baby. Or the virtual money in this case. 50 points worth.

9 November - Green Bay (-3) at Pittsburgh, 41.5 Over/Under

Last week I said that road favorites made me weary. Which is true, but last week I took Dallas because the Iggles are pathetic this year.

Pittsburgh is not pathetic, and I think giving them points in their own building is even more motivation that they need after last week's unexpected loss.

Bill Cowher!

I love you, man! That Kordell Stewart guy is pretty good, too.

16 November - Denver (-4) at Kansas City, 40 Over/Under

Let's revisit, for the third time in a row, road favorites. They scare me, yes. Picking against the Broncos giving up only 4 points, however, scares me more.

When the Bears looked likely to finish the season undefeated in the mid 80s, they went to Miami for a Monday night game and had their asses handed to them. That will not happen to Denver tonight, and it won't happen when they visit Miami this year, either. The team is too good, John Elway is too competitive, and Mike Shanahan is too smart.

I Meant Brister is Too Competitive

Actually, I think that only shows just how good Denver is. It also shows how much teams hurt for quarterbacks. Brister, Cunningham, Jason Garrett, and Doug Flutie are all performing well this year.

Honestly, though, it says more about Denver, who I think might get caugt napping at home this week against Oakland, anyway. Just a though, not an official pick or anything.

23 November - Miami at New England (-3), 36 Over/Under

Finally, a home favorite. Only they don't really deserve to be. This Miami team is good enough to win the division, and win this game. I'll take the three points.

Damn You Bledsoe! I can't be too mad at the guy. He did break his fingers after all. More to the point, a push doesn't really hurt me. 26-23 is just fine when you get three points.

I hope Jimmy put some money on the game. -29 November 1998

30 November - New York Football Giants at San Fransisco (-13.5), 44 Over/Under

This game scares the hell out of me. I don't believe the Giants have a prayer of winning the game; after the way the Eagles played Green Bay tough this week, though, maybe they can make a game of it.

Then again, maybe the Niners will try to placate Rice and score a lot in the process.

I figure they can easily score 30 in this game. That means for the Giants to come close to the spread, the score goes overs. I'll take the Niners, and I'll take overs.
