I'm Not The Only One

Sports announcer pet peeves (current top 2):

1 - The new verb tense I call the "sports present," as in "If he catches that ball, the Yankees don't score any runs," where any normal person would say "If he had caught that ball, the Yankess would not have scored any runs." I think past conditional is too much to ask.

2- Misuse of "literally." Of late, this word has come to mean "to a large degree," or something to that effect. As in "Ricky Watters ran into a brick wall there. Literally." No, not literally.
