Before I even start, allow me to apologize to all my friends in Philly that I did not see when I was on the East Coast. I know I was only 50 miles away, but I was treating this like a vacation that just happened to be near Philly. I spent a total of 7 waking hours there. I did manage to get an Italian roast pork sandwich with broccoli rabe at Tony Luke's though, and I've got one word to say about that.
That being said, those 50 miles or so were south and east of Philly, in Ocean City, New Jersey. I managed to get somewhat tan, spent a good deal of time in the ocean, and did almost nothing but play games all weekend. I did read a little, but mostly I played games.
Over the week I was there, I played horseshoes, air hockey, miniature golf, paddle ball, and some video games. My mother convinced me to play pinochle, and I threw styrofoam glider planes with my adorable cousins Lesley and Tracy.
A big highlight of the week, and the biggest game session of them all, was playing in a beach ultimate tournament in Wildwood New Jersey. Not only did I get to play some great disc with old friends and new ones, but I got to do it on the beach, with swimming between games. Plus, when we were done, we just walked over to the nearby amusement pier, rode a roller coaster, and drove go-carts.
The next day, I took part in one of the best comebacks I've ever helped make happen. Down 10-4 in a game to 11 we won 12-10 by keeping our heads up and playing hard when it did not seem to matter. We were spent for the finals, but winning that game was positively euphoric. It was a shame that my brother had left after Saturady and could not share that with us.
The trip was a really good time. I thought I might write a lot of the details here. Like how I got to ride in Bobby Labonte's #18 Interstate Battery Pontiac for the go-cart race. But then I thought better of it.
