Looking to Get Lucky on the World Wide WebOut of curiousity, I started looking for links to Lucky Charms related websites. That brief excursion reminded me so much of what I love about the web that I had to expound a bit on it here. First, I went to You Rule School, a General Mills promotional site for kids. The You Rule School site wanted me to choose a username for use during the first and subsequent visits. Naturally, I chose "Assmunch". After submitting the form, Cuckoo the Cocoa Puff bird informed me I was sillier than he was, and that bad words were not allowed in school. Being clever, I avoided English, filled in puta (If you don't know the word, a listing of Spanish slang might help) and submitted it to see what would happen. What happened was delightful. Cuckoo returned once again, to inform me that the name was taken and to suggest a new one instead. I was not the first to use puta; not by a long shot. The name Cuckoo offered was puta847. God love the bilingual Youth of America. Anonymity, ease of access, and a good sense of humore combined to make counterculture. And it happened again when I went to Alta Vista and submitted a query for "LUCKY CHARMS", with even more obscenity. I like to rant, so do other people. Some people don't like anyone to fool around with Lucky Charms shapes. Andrew Wesley Johnson doesn't like anyone messing with Lucky Charms, or any other cereals for that matter.
Ease of publishing also means that other people can make fun of Lucky
Charms, and they do (Although I make no claims to how funny any of them
are):
Lastly, the web is a good place for people who like to make lists. Such as The Comprehensive Star Wars Cereal Box List. I think I'll end with that.
