Vienna

In early April 2006 Tom spent ten days visiting Janna and Joe in Vienna.

Broadwood Grand

See some pictures of the repairs.

Home Repairs

It had been over twenty years since we had last worked on the main floor walls, ceilings, woodwork, and floors. In 2008 we (mainly Shirley) tackled plaster repairs and painting. We touched up the oiled woodwork and floors, and stripped and oiled painted woodwork. The whole project took seven months.

Janna

Janna gave a vocal recital at the Eastman School of Music in April 2004. See the program with a link to an MP3.

In the Twin Cities Janna was seen (and heard) in March and April 2001 in HMS Pinafore and again in July 2001 in Pirates of Penzance with the GSVLOC. In November 2003 she sang the "Bachianas Brazileiras #5" by Heitor Villa-Lobos with the cellos of the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra.

MPO

Not coincidentally, Shirley and Tom play cello and viola, respectively, in the Minnesota Philharmonic Orchestra with several performances each year.

Musical Arrangements

Tom has made some arrangements of music pieces for violas, for viola and cello, and for mixed chorus. See scores and hear MIDI realizations of these arrangements.

Bohemian Toast

When I was growing up, the custom in my family was for my mother to sleep in on Saturday mornings, while my father cooked breakfast. When there was sufficient stale bread available he made what we called "Bohemian Toast". He said he recreated the recipe from a meal he was served at a road house in central Wisconsin some time in the '30's. I have no idea if there is actually anything Bohemian about this dish, but it was a great favorite with my siblings and me.

PDS

Oh by the way, PDS stands for Practical Data Services, Tom Kysilko's business alias.
