It took a while, but the survey is reborn as AVSurvey!!!

Sunday October 18, 1998

I'm currently negotiating with the fine folks of Audiogon to relocate (and expand) my pages to a new site. Arnie, Neil, and Steve will be taking over my survey. Don't worry, I'll still be involved in an advisory roll.

I've been unable to maintain the survey for several months. This is the breath of fresh air that the survey needs. Soon, it will be a professionally run site that can serve you, with your help, as you deserve.

I got a new job! Having a new job, it didn't make sense for me to keep my pages on my old employeer's server. I've moved to a new ISP and we'll see how things work out here. I want to express my thanks to SSESCO for allowing the pages to be there while I was there. I hope they do very well in the future.

The pages are now preparsed so they should come up faster and reduce the load on the server. I'm sure something must have gone astray somewhere. I've redone a lot of stuff that you can't see. Let me know where I messed up.

With the new job, I won't be able to provide responses quite as timely as I used to, but I'll try and check in a few times a week.

I'm sorry to say that I will no longer be accepting votes by e-mail. Unsolicited commercial e-mail has become too much of a problem for me.

Origionally, this was called a 'FAQ'. It changed to a 'List'. Now it's a 'Survey'. Hopefully that's the last name change. Anyway, the 'Survey' now has a 'FAQ' (Frequently Asked Questions) of it's own. I figure for every person that asks me a question, there are a hundred that don't. My new FAQ should answer most of their questions.

Long time with nothing to report. Things have been going smoothly. I'm getting a great deal of interest in my page from consumers, dealers, and other audio sites. I must be doing something right. :)

I've gotten a few more logos. I've decided I'm going to use them all, but Brion Hurley gets special credit because I'm using a portion of his as my new title graphic. Expect to see them all randomly displayed on my pages real soon now!

I had given up on the logo design contest until Paul Sin saved the day. Can you do better or will Paul be the one getting all of our respect and admiration?

Saturday November 8 , 1997

I've rewritten the search engine again. It now has more options and the output contains much more information. All this and it's faster! I'm all tingly inside. Thanks to readers for thier suggestions and encouragement.

Now if we could just replace this six year old server.

Friday October 24, 1997

Most of the network problems should be solved. We're running on the new server. I'm afraid it doesn't mean that things will be faster. It just means we can upgrade OS on the other machines now.

If you're bookmark/quicklist/whatever has garbanzo.ssesco.com as the server, please change it to www.ssesco.com. We will be moving the WWW server to a different machine. www.ssesco.com will work no matter where we put the server. If you want, you can test the new server for me at http://cream.ssesco.com/nau/ (just don't bookmark it).

I've extended the search functionality slightly (any server). You can now restrict your search to company descriptoins or people's comments.

I'm not ignoring you! Honest. I've had a lot of people ask me questions through my e-mail form and leave no way for me to contact them. I would love to try and answer your questions, but I need a hint of some kind (perhaps an e-mail address). :)

Wow, things are running smoothly! I just don't have that much news to report. I do want to thank those of you that send me comments about my site. I don't always respond, but I do appreciate them greatly! Keep 'em coming (both good and bad).

Got that pesky internal tracking done. Oy, file locks just don't work like they should.

I did have a ballot stuffing incident last weekend. It's a shame that a few try and spoil it for the rest of us. Luckily, I caught it. Sorry, I'm not releasing any specifics on the incident.
Before Tuesday August 26, 1997 (I didn't start timestamping until then)

The issue of credit card surcharges has been brought to my attention. In the Before You Buy section of my list, I talk a little further about it. I'll update as I get more information.

Be sure and check out the Logo Design Contest.

Well, the big news is that I've just revamped this entire site. It seems to work pretty well. I'm still doing a little cleanup, but let me know if you find any errors. I must have messed up something somewhere.
