Do not buy anything from these people or believe one word they say to you.
I ordered a Sony CD player 5/10/98 and was told it was in stock. My fax
confirmation said I would have it or at least it would be shipped in 7-10
days. Either way it was academic because it was never shipped. I was told,
however, on 3 seperate occasions that it was "en route". I could not get
a tracking # because Jay said releasing the #'s led to mail order fraud.
By 6/10/98 I had enough and cancelled my order, but not before being
exhusted from making up and telling so many lies, they must sleep
extremely well, content in the feeling of a job well done.

Iordered a pioneer receiver vsx -07tx for $1029 from abc on friday june 12th
and got a prompt e-mail verifying my order,i then happened upon this web
site and what i read really made me wonder if i made a mistake of ordering
from them .So on sunday nite i decided to e-mail for tracking #,on monday
the 16th i didnt get a response from them,so e-mailed again that nite still
no response to my e-mails,now i'm thinking everything i've read about them
is true.cause my credit card has been charged to right away
on friday the day i ordered..so i called jay to see what was going on and
was told couldnt check on it computers were down and warehouse was closed
and to call back tomorrow, so decided to send jay an e-mail that if i dont
see my order by friday the 19th to cancel my order,and that i've contacted
my credit card co. about getting my money back if you dont deliver by friday
since i requested next day shipping,i finally received e-mail back on weds,
saying receiver has been sh!
ipped and would be 7-10 days from day of order,i guess my e-mail got their
attention cause friday guess what showed up but my receiver double boxed and
in a nice pristine factory sealed box,i checked tracking # to see when
shipped and was shipped weds eve and sent 2day air so my e-mail must have
worked.receiver works great and a week isnt bad to receive,but everything
said and done would probably not order from them again not worth hassle

They were(Jay) helpful on the phone and tried to track down
other hard-to-get item for me. I'll let you all know how it
goes. I couldn't afford the unit anywhere else.

The guys at ABC are a couple of real (profanity removed). They don't deserve to be in
business. I feel sorry for anyone who doesn't heed the warnings posted on
this list. I have no doubt that the few good reviews ABC received are fake,
posted by ABC themselves. A few people gave them good reviews based on their
visits to the store--of course they can't try to cheat you in person! They
can't hide behind nonexistent merchandise and shipping dates.

I love these guys..... I ordered a Marantz remote ($199) and
was suprised two weeks later when it was a no show.... I
call,.. get all the stories for three days, then I finally
give up and decide to make some 'legal calls' THE NEXT DAY
what shows up to my door, but the remote, a $2000 Yamaha
Amp, and a $1500 Cd player!
ALL for $199! Thanks for the lying guys,... I am not
calling you on this one!

I placed an order for a subwoofer on March 18th, was charged
on my CC on the April 8th. To this day have not received the
subwoofer and continue to get the runaround, this person is
not here, call back later, or will get the information about
your order call back tomorrow. I have called every week
since then because they said it was shipped but nothing
showed up. The CC company has issued credit on my account
so it is not costing me anything. I will continue to call
and harass them until I get my subwoofer......

I join the list of disasstified customers...I order two
Parasound Amps, was told (promised) they were in stock and
available, 10 days later I called, to be promised again that
they had been shipped out, this went on for over 45 days, 5
to 6 different calls, never once heard from them. Every time
you talk to them you get a new lie, wasa out-of-stock but
it's been shipped, you should have it by now,...blah, blah,
blah, etc. All I can say is stay away!!!

I emailed ABC's websuck for pricing of a Denon decoder. After several days of
no answer, I telephoned for pricing. I was assured they would beat any price.
Several days later, I called the best price I had found. They agreed to "meet"
the price, so I placed the order on 4/10/98. It was to ship to arrive within
7-10 days. On 4/20/98 I received a reply to my original price request offering
the unit for $10 lower than my order price. I called, asked for the lower
price and for a delivery date. I was put on hold and left. I called back and
was told the order price was the price...no further breaks. They said the unit
had shipped on 4/15...expect 7-10 days from then. I gave it 10 days, then
check my VISA account and learned the charge had been entered on 4/10, my
original order date. On 4/30 I called again and was told they would search it
out and call right back. On 4./31 I called again. This time I was given a UPS
tracking number, which revealed they had actually shipped the unit on 4/30, 20
days after charging my account. The prices are quite good, but be aware that
the account will be charged immediately. The goods will be shipped when
available...and someone is good and ready.

This company is truly dismal!!! I ordered an amp and CD
changer with 2 day delivery. After 3 days they called and
said they entered the wrong zip code for shipping. They
said wait two days. I waited another four days. Nothing.
I called them and they told me to call back. After calling
back five times, I told them to call me back. They never
did. I finally called them and they said they lost my
phone number!!!!! Finally someone came on line and said
they were never shipped!!!! He said the first person must
have been mistaken, because my CD changer wasn't in stock!
This is ater verifing on the first day they were. He then
offered to ship the amp next day at MY cost! He told me
they couldn't pay for it because they weren't making enough
money off the sale!!!! It is obvious they lied to me on
the first call and were just buying an extra couple of
days. I cancelled the order and went elsewhere and
recieved it in two days with no problems.

I placed an order with them for a Yamaha DSP-A1and a Marantz Universal Remote
on Friday April 3, 1998 and the price agreed upon was $1999 for the Yamaha
and $199 for the Marantz remote. The prices inluded shipping. I made it
very clear that I needed to have the shipment by Monday, April 6.
On Monday the 6th of April instead of the shipment I got a call telling me
that I would have to pay an additional $110 if I wanted my order to be
shipped and that I would receive it on Wednesday April 8, 1998. Also that
they did not have the new model of the Marantz remote instead they could
send me a demo unit of the old model for $150.
I was told that if the price did not suit me they would cancel the order
since they had enough buyers for the Yamaha units.
This is certainly the last time I do business with them.

Here is my experience with ABC. Placed an order with them on 3/12 BEFORE I
found this website because the prices were great. I was told I would receive
my order in 7-10 days (sound familiar?). Found this website later that day
and contemplated cancelling my order but decided not to. Called 3/14 to get
tracking # and was told I had to wait 48 hrs after the order to get one. I
asked if I could find out if the order had shipped and was told the
warehouse was not open on weekends. Called back 3/16 and was
told I could not get a tracking # until the order was late for delivery.
Asked if it was shipped and was told that what I ordered was normally in
stock and should have been shipped. Came back to this website and read
more comments about ABC and decided to call back and cancel. Checked credit
card and was never charged. Interesting considering it "should have" been
shipped.
I'm glad I found this website since everything people said here was true
and I got out while I still had the chance.

well it's been 3 weeks still no product, I got every story
in the book spoke to jay, dave, joey all bullshit "let me
check", kept me on hold for 45 mins, 3 times, came back
with no answer, they claimed they shipped it, they say call
me back tommorrow i have to check with the shipping
company, we don't give out tracking numbers,i called ait
frieght no record of any shipment it took me 10 minutes,
these guy's are full of shit, i don't know why yet, i
cancelled my order, they say they will credit me, this will
be a battle i'm sure, i called bbb and my cc company both
will make formal complaints and their security will
investigate. the bbb has many complaints on them. don't do
waste your time there full of shit.

have many complaints. I i only saw this site before i would
have not tried them, they claim all the bad posts are from

Stay away from them. I was lied to about the availabiliy of my order, how
long the shipping would take, & to make matters worse, I received a wrong
item in my shipment. I had to take the time to write a letter explaining
to these idiots about their mistake & pay to ship the item back. They
wouldn't even reship the correct item out until they received the wrong one
back. That was almost 3 weeks ago and I haven't even heard from them.
Definately don't let their "cheap" prices influence you like they did
me. Give your business to someone who cares.....

After taking 2 calls to cancel an order, it then took 4 calls to get a
credit on my card. Each time the accounting person said she would call back,
but never did. I actually had to file a dispute with the card company
first, after which they credited immediately. If you're in a suicidal mood
and want to actually order from them defintely don't use cash or check
because I can't imagine what it would be like to get a refund when you
have problems.

If you are having a problem with ABC let your credit card company know. For
details review the back of your statement. ABC is rated by the Better
Business Bureau of Central New Jersey, Inc. as
"unsatisfactory" which means "records show a pattern of no response to
customer complaints". So as an alternative "contact the Monmouth County
Division of Consumer Affairs at (908) 431-7900" located at 50 East Main
Street, Freehold, NJ 07728. ABC has to respond to complaints filed by
Monmouth within ten business days. I commend the services of the BBB,
Monmouth, and this web site.

read all the bad press and ignored it. I was lured by the
low prices. I even faxed ABC copies of all your messages and
promised to write a great letter here if they didn't let me
down. Well folks, I don't care how many good letters are

unless you want to harass them. There is no lie that hasn't
been invented they would be ashamed of using. I warn you
again to stay away from this company. You can thank me later
when you read more horror stories from people who buy after

straight-forward service and a product delivered as promised
at the agreed upon price. They took the time to explain the
product and answer my many questions with patience. I

Beware of ABC!! Ordered a Yamaha Rx-992 Receiver from ABC
based on low price Quoted by Rick-Did not see the product
for over a month and three lengthy phone calls in which I
was promised it was shipped on every occasion. Getting a
FedEx tracking # was like pulling teeth, but it did
ultimatly get me a receiver in the mail after a 34 day wait.

Ordered a yamaha receiver on Dec. 30 and was told I would
receive it in 7 to 10 business days. Called on Jan. 13 and
was told it was shipped last friday but I could not get a
tracking number. Called on Jan. 20 and told it was shipped
and to call back at 6pm est to get the tracking number.
Called back and was told I still couldn't get a tracking
number and call back tomorrow at noon. Called back and was
finally given a tracking number which I entered into the
UPS website which told me the package had been shipped at
7pm est the night before. Credit card was charged the day
I ordered. If you love to wait and get lied to constantly
this is the place for you! Wouldn't order from this place
again if it was the last place on earth.

I called them twice and I am telling you that the salesmen are very rude!
In fact one them hanged up on me while I was asking him a question!!!
I ordered a kenwood receiver, Krx-1000 from them. I waited a week and I
called them back if they have send out the receiver yet. Guess what they
told me? They said that the receiver has been discontinued and they no
longer carry it. I got angry and I asked them why is that they did not
tell me earlier when I ordered in the first place. They said it is because
of their computer's fault that says it is still available. They don't even
bother to call me to tell me this and they did not even apologize. People,
trust me, don't even bother to do business with this company! They are
rude and unresponsible! What kind of company that does not even bother to
upgrade their computer's data? Man, what a messed up company!

I saw good and bad comments about ABC. I decided to give
them the benefit of doubt.
I called ABC (Bill) to check if they had a unit of the
discontinued Harmon Kardon CD Changer- FL8450. He said it
was available and immediately charged my credit card. Few
days later, he called me back to tell me that it was not
available. Weeks later when I saw the charge on my credit
card with no credit, I called them. I was given the run
around. Believe me, they kept me waiting for about an hour.
Then one of them asked me to call Dave at (888)292-0955.
When I tried talking to Dave, he said that he was shocked
that he was contacted. Finally he suggested that I contact
Angela who said that my account would be credited. I have
not seen the credit for over two weeks. I wonder how they
stay in business.
The moral of the story: Keep away from ABC.

I had a mixed reaction with ABC/Alpha/whatever. They knew
their stuff, and their prices were the lowest i've seen,
but after a 4 months of hassels, i would be VERY hesitent
to deal with them.
My initial contact was good - i was looking for a dolby ac3
receiver, and they steered me towards a denon receiver. i
bought it, had a receipt which had me down as a home trial
purchase which i could return for a credit, and took the
thing home. later, i decided to return it b/c i needed the
money for another interest (my fiancee). i returned an
UNOPENED box, and was told my credit would be issued.
well, that was in august, and it wasn't until november that
a credit was issued. That was after three months of crap
from them and dealing with my credit card company about how
the dealer had not issued a credit. it wasn't until i went
to the store for the third time that i actually SAW them
issue a credit. Of the three employees there, one looked
like a greasy musclehead, the middle moron was a fast-
talking scumbag with the worst tailored suit i had ever
seen, and the third was a guy that looked like he had
crawled out of a van filled with pot smoke. talk about
professional...

Tried to order an Energy subwoofer, I asked if it came w/ mfg. warranty,
they said yes. I checked up later (duh, I should've checked before) and of
course they aren't authorized (no one is to mail order Energy). In the
meantime they had immediately charged my card. When I called 7 working
days later, they said it was too late in the day to get the tracking number
to call back the same time the next day (so that it would be too late to
check the next day too). So I called earlier in the day so they would
be no excuse, which upon requesting a tracking number they said that the
sub they were going to send was apparently a demo so they were waiting for
some more to arrive from Energy (how since they aren't authorized), but
they could offer me the next model up (bait and switch). It's not worth
the amount of money they claim to be "doing you a favor" for the deceit
that goes on. I've got a report into my card company so I'll give them
24 hrs to credit.

Ordered some Adcom equipment in November. Very good pricing,
was told I should have order in 7-10 days. After 2 weeks I
called requesting shipping information which they could not
provide me but assured me that all items had shipped. Called
before Christmas and again told them I had not received
anything. Said they would get part of the order out 2 Day,
received it 4 days later. Called again to get an idea of the
remainder of the order, was told it had shipped Ground and I
should see it in 5 days. Again nothing showed up, called
every day for a week and a half, told it was difficult to
get information because of the CES show. Next week will make
2 months since my order which is still not completely
received. Called and told them If I don't have the remainder
of order in my hands by the end of the week I am cancelling.
Basically there is no price short of being free worth this
much aggravation.

Let me preface these remarks by stating that I am in no way
affiliated with this store, nor have I had any prior
experience with them, or with any of the folks working
there. I am 49 years old, an independent businessman,
for whom audio has been a hobby (actually an obscession
would be more accurate) for the better part of three
decades. I have two college degrees, and have been
teaching physics and advanced mathematics for 28 years.
I am a licensed radio amateur, having held the Amateur
Extra class license since 1977, and first licensed
in 1966.
I like to think of myself as an educated consumer,
particularly in the area of home entertainment equipment.
These folks passed my "acid test" by correctly answering
several rather involved technical questions during the
course of a 15 minute conversation in the store before
I asked them to give a product opinion. They then proceeded
to recommend a product to me, which on their recommendation
I purchased at a cost of roughly $1,600.00. While in the
store, I also spent roughly another $200.00 on a smaller
piece of equipment.
On getting the gear home, there was a problem with the
smaller piece. Since it was a holiday, the store was
closed, so I waited until the next business day. I called
them. I spoke with Steve and explained the problem. He was
very courteous during the conversation, placed me on hold
while he checked inventory (took him about 5 minutes) and
then told me that they had plenty in stock. I asked if I
could bring the defective piece in for a direct swap. He
assured me this would not be a problem. And on my arrival
at the store, not only was it not a problem, he had the
replacement piece already pulled from storage and ready for
me to take home.
I must simply say that every possible aspect of my
experience with Alpha Sound (StereoABC, or whatever
you may want to call them) has been extremely pleasant.
These folks know their product line; they also know
the industry, and had absolutely no hesitancy about
recommending products to me that they DO NOT SELL and
CANNOT GET. Their every demeanor and mannerism told me
that their primary interest was my satisfaction with
my purchase decision, even if the decision did not
involve a purchase from them. There are very very
precious few merchants about whom I can say that.
Now, we do not live in a perfect world, and everyone
has a bad day, and even the best run of businesses
occasionally comes up smelling like excrement. But
I cannot say this about these folks. At least, not based
on any experience I have had with them.
Would I buy from them again? Absolutely.
Would I recommend them to friends? Definitely.
If I had to complain about anyting, it would only
be to chide them into making their "pay and leave"
process a bit faster! But then, it is always fun to
spend time looking at good equipment!!

Buy elsewhere. I was promised a Mirage subwoofer in 7-10
days. 10 days passed, with no sign of the subwoofer.
Called to ask about the delay and was treated very poorly,
then placed on hold for over 5 minutes. Then I was told
unit would arrive "next week." I called back the next
Friday, still no sub.
Almost four weeks had now passed, and I did not receive the
sub until I was completely fed up and told them to just
cancel the order. They then said I would have the unit in
two days. I gave them one last chance, and I finally
received the unit. So, I received the unit 3 weeks late,
they were very rude on the phone, and they charged my credit
card on the order date. But, unfortunately, there's more.
To take the cake, the sub appeared to be a demo unit, or a
dealer B-Stock item (as the carton had been opened and was
also crushed. They said they "had to open it to make sure
it wasn't damaged", sure, whatever). The serial numbers had
also been removed from both the unit and the carton.
Surprisingly, I ultimately kept the unit because it was sold
for literally half list, which is good even for a demo. But
it wasn't supposed to be a demo unit, and it wasn't supposed
to arrive 3 weeks late, and I wasn't supposed to be treated
rudely when inquiring about my late order.
The REAL kicker, is that I live just down the road from the
place. From looking around the place, it appears they have
very few items stocked (mostly mass-market stuff: JBL, BIC,
etc.), and they "get" items as customers call and order
them. From where, I don't know...
Needless to say, I haven't been back to ABC/Alpha Sound &
Vision, or whatever they're called this month.

Today I had a discussion with Dave- the customer service
representative about my reclamation and in general about
their operation. Based on this facts I am changing my
ratings from Very Poor to OK.
I still have some open issues with them from my cancelled
order but they made a promise to make it right. I am a
believer.
Based on this discussion I can give them some credit: maybe
they don't lie to you. They just happen to give you
incorrect information.
To avoid confusion it is very important to try to talk to
the same people all the time because the information you
might get from another representative may not be correct.
Especially in case of shipping dates.
Their intention may be good, but it seems that they should
organize their operations much better if they want to get
some positive reviews in the future.
Will I do business with them in the future? It depends on
their ability to keep the promises they make about their
service.

Don't order from this place. Ordered a DVD player and it
took over a week to get to me. Billed my credit card on
order not on shipment. Salesman agreed to drop the price
and recredit my card for some of the balance.. It's been a
month now and I'm still waiting for the credit. I also was
going to order a receiver from them which they said they had
in stock. After talking to some other people and the DVD
problem I asked the salesman to get it to me in 2 days and I
would still order from him. He promptly recredited my card
(I'm sure because they didn't have it in stock) basically
they lie lie lie.. Take your buisness elsewhere

Same experience as everybody else. I thought I'd give them
the benefit of the doubt because of the good price, but they
couldn't deliver and always gave me a run-around. I placed
my order on Nov 17. At that time I was told 7 to 10 days.
The next time I called I was told 7 to 10 working days.When
I called on the 10th working day, they said the speakers had
shipped but they had to wait till the 11th working day to
give me a tracking number. Well today is the 11th working
day, and of course there is no tracking number. Today's
story is that they had them in stock when I ordered, but
they had so many backlog orders to fill that they ran out.
However, they are definitely getting a new shipment in next
week. Yeah right! Of course, they charge your credit card on
the day you order. Needless to say, I cancelled my order.

Don't order from this company! They don't give you tracking
numbers, because they claim people change addresses to have
the products delivered elsewhere and then tell the company
they never recieved it. Jerked me around for 2 weeks,
telling me they would get them, then telling me it was
company policy not to furnish tracking numbers. Every mail
order company no matter how small or large, gives out this
vital info. Some even go the extra mile and call you/e-mail
you when it is shipped, with numbers. It's the only
assurance for customers to know the product was shipped out,
which brings me to the other reason...they charge your card
immediately, and before the order is shipped! I know because
I called to ask if my order was shipped and asked for
tracking numbers. When they told me it wasn't even shipped
yet, as it took days to process it, I asked why they charged
my card when the order wasn't even shipped. They fumbled
around that question...couldn't even answer it. Needless to
say, I never got my order within the timeframe promised or
tracking numbers and I cancelled. They got obnoxious when I
told them I was refuting the charges with my bank.
Bottom line...I suspect if they don't have something in
stock, they keep stringing the customer on believing the
item was shipped, when in fact, the item is backordered.
Or they use the ol' bait and switch. They couldn't even give
tracking numbers to support their claim they shipped it.
Find another company...there's plenty out there who play
fair and want your business. Mail order can still be a

Don't buy anything from this company. They are very rude,
hang me up many times when asking about the reason for the
long delay. Besides, they(means the company and all of the
salesmans- Jay, David, Bill, Tony...) are very dishonest
people because of the following reasons: 1) they bait and
switch. 2) they don't give you a order #. 3) they never
give you a order tracking number or give you a wrong one.
4) they charge you the same day you order the product but
they don't send you the product or a long long time after
your ordering date. 5) they claim they have the products
you want but actually they do not. 6) When I asked for a 2
day express service they charged me the price of 2nd day
express but after a long delay(3 weeks) they shipped it to
me by ground. 7) they charge more than what they post on
the Web page 8) when you asked for the reason of the long
delay, they keep telling you different stories such as they
already sent it, you did not order on that date, it takes
about 2 day to ship it to or it takes about 7-10days or
even it takes about 2-3 weeks, they can even claim they do
not have your information(but they already charge my credit
card!!!). After such a painfully experience, I sincerely
request all of the people who read this message to spread
this out to avoid more people being tortured by this
company named- ABC American buyers club, ABC Home Stereo
Specialist, or ABC Home stereo and theatre.

My experince with www.stereoabc.com has been good. I was
looking for the lowest prices and was not disappointed.
They answered all my questions and seemed very well educated
concerning the equipment they were selling. I specifically
asked several questions I already knew the answer to, they
gave me the correct answers. I will probably do business
with them again.

Don't buy from this company! This company is absolutely a
fraud. Called to order a Marantz SR870 receiver and a
CD67-SE in mid-September and was promised that they both are
in-stock and should receive them within ten days. Ten days
later, I got the receiver but not the CD player. Called back
and was promised again that the CD player is on its way but
couldn't issue a tracking number. I waited ten days again
but still hadn't received the CD player. So, I called once
again and was told that the order by lost. But they are
re-sending it. So, I gave them a third chance. Of course,
the CD player didn't arrive as it was promised! I called
them and was told the CD player won't be in-stock for
another week or so. So, I canceled the order. The sales
person, David, (actually is one of their managers) promised
to issue credir back to me. But so far, five days passed and
the creidt still doesn't show up on my credit card. I am
calling my credit card company to dispute the charge. When I
told David that there are a lot of bad reviews about them,
he claimed that the bad reviews are from their competitions.
Well, I am a true customer and am leaving my email address
below. If you have any doubt, ask me about my
experience. Please, please, don't buy anything from them!

Ordered an NAD 512 on 10/3/97. They said I should receive
it in 5-7 working days. Called on the 9th to get a trace
number. They said they didn't have one yet and it shipped
on the 8th and it would take about 5 work days to receive
it. Called on the 15th - no trace number yet and was told
it was shipped on the 14th????? Hmmmm. Was told to call back
on the 16th to get the trace number. (I think there's
something fishy going on-- no trace numbers but the item
shipped??).

Ordered a Yamaha RXV 992. After 1 week, they said to wait
up to 10 business days for delivery. After 2 weeks, they
said it had just shipped the day before. After 3 weeks,
they said it just shipped "today" and then tried to get me
to buy a different product. What will the 4th week bring?

I've just walked in and in 15 minutes I bought my int. amp.
at the lowest price possible. They are willing to negotiate the price.

I am also surprised at the negative comments regarding this
supplier. I talked many times with two reps before buying a
Denon AVR-2600. They beat the best price that I could find.
I also nearly purchased 4 NEAR 50me's and a Genoa center. A
local guy had them in stock and nearly gave them to me or I
would have gone with ABC.

I am very suprised at the number of negative comments. I called these guys, made a deal, sent a money order priority mail and got the merchandise a Denon AVR 2600 within 2 days after they received the MO. They beat everybody elses price by a considerable amount. I've recommended them to my all friends.

Very pushy when trying to sell me an extended service contract.
Tried to "barter" on the price after I initially refused.
Extremely long delay. 7-10 days turned into 20 before I
cancelled my order. Could have taken much longer.
Told me my order had shipped when in fact they did not even
have the unit in stock.
Very rude. Poor customer service. Long delays on hold.
Pushy. Tried to talk me out of cancelling my order.
Tried to talk me into accepting another brand and model.
