Sulpur Nymph
Hook- Mustad 3906B size 14
Thread- Olive
Tail- Imitation Woodduck (which is dyed Mallard Flank)
Body- "Golden" Antron
Wing Case- Ostrich Herl
Legs/Beard- Imitation Woodduck
Instructions for either pattern
1 Tie down a base of thread from right behind the eye to the start of the
bend.
2 Tie in 6 - 10 fibers from a mallard flank feather for the tail. The length
should be the length of the shank.
3 Dub a tapered body from the tail to a point 1/4 of the way behind the
eye.
4 Tie in 12 or so fibers of mallard flank for the legs.
5 Tie in 6 strands of ostrich herl on top for the wing case. In the video
Swisher ties them in with the tips of the herl pointing foward, but I tie
them in with them pointing to the back. Snip off most of the herl leaving
a wing case that is half the body in length (about 1/8").
6 Dub a small amount of antron in front of the wing case, tie a small head,
and tie off.
These should be fished right on the bottom, although I hook up most often
on the up swing. I tie them in four colors, the other two being olive and
brown. They can be tied weighted and the can be ribbed with a fine copper
wire (rib and tyed off before proceeding with the legs.)
