Jorgensen's Fur Caddis Pupa

Hook: TMC2487 (or equivalent) 12-18
Thread: 8/0 Uni, color to match body
Abdomen: Fur dubbing (I like Krystal Dub)
Thorax/Legs: Rabbit fur spun in dubbing loop
Weight: thin wire wrapped around shank (optional)
1. Attach thread and wrap around bend so that the body will form a natural curved shape.
2. Dub an abdomen to within 1/5 a shank length behind the eye.
3. Make a dubbing loop at the end of the abdomen. draw out about 3 or 4 inches of thread and loop over the hook shank. Make one wrap around the top of the loop and wind thread to tie off area
4. Cut some rabbit fur from a skin or zonker strip. Do NOT mix the fur. Try to keep guard hairs as straight as possible.
5. Insert fur into dubbing loop with guard hairs on one side (extending to end of abdomen) and underfur on the other (about 1/8 inch). Sort of like this:
   ___________
  / ------|= `
  (__------|=
     ------|=

6. Carefully arrange hairs so they are at right angles with the loop.
7. Twist the loop to form a fur chenille. Make sure the loop is twisted fairly tight to lock the fur in place.
8. Hold the loop above the hook shank and stroke the chenille until all the fibers point back toward the bend of the hook. A little saliva certainly helps.
9. Wrap the fur forward to just behind the eye, stroking back toward the bend between wraps (there should only be a couple wraps).
10. Tie off the loop and wind the thread a little up into the fur to help it maintain it's backward slant and to form a small tapered head.
11. Whip finish and trim thread.
