I tie in one herl at the tail and one at the base of the wing case material. Wrapping sequence is 1) the thorax herl with a reverse wrap 2) the body herl, all the way through the thorax, with a "regular" wrap and 3) the ribbing, all the way through the thorax area, with a reverse wrap. The original pattern (w/o gold bead) calls for legs of brown hackle fibers tied beard style. I omit these when using beads, but they could easily be included. This fly seems to be a great fly for the Fall season.
