Hook:   Mustad 9672 or similar; sizes 6 to 12
Thread: Black
Tail:   Muskrat fur with guard hair left in
Body:   Muskrat fur for dubbing, some use a dubbing loop twisted tight to give a segmented effect
Thorax: Thick muskrat fur with mostly guard hairs; tied guard hair pointing rearward using a dubbing loop to get good thickness and a firm hold on the hair.
Head:   black ostrich herl

Can be weighted, but not necessarily; It's one of my preferred pattern for crappies or bass, it will work when everything else fail, it's good all season long; I tye it up to size 2 on a long shank, for some reason the small mouth bass react vigourisly at this presentation in june and early july; for more effect I even curve the hook upward; You can fish it deep or in the film. This type of nymph, the uglyer the better, it's a fish fly not a fishermand fly.
