#14 BH Metallic Caddis
Hook: Tiemco TMC 2457
Thread: Black
Body: Fine Green Wire
Head: Small Brass Beadhead
Thorax: Peackock Herl
Legs: Barred Wood Duck CDC Feather
Instructions:
1. Thread beadhead onto hook and then put hook into vise.
2. Body: Start wrapping green wire beginning 1/4 the way down the curve
of the hook and wrap up toward the beadhead. Note: after anchoring the wire,
DO NOT cut tag end off. Instead, continue wrapping over the tag end (keep
tag end on the underside of the hood for a clean look). This prevents a
'lumpy' look. Leave a gap of about 1/4 inch of bare hook directly behind
the beadhead.
3. Thorax and legs: Anchor black thread directly behind the beadhead and
tie off green wire. Next, select one 'juicy' peacock herl and 1 small barred
wood duck feather. Anchor the peacock herl about 1/4 inch behind the beadhead
(right up against the green wire on the bare wire). Then, anchor the CDC
feather directly behind the beadhead. Wrap peacock herl toward front and
tie off with black thread (don't wrap over CDC!). Finally, wrap one turn
of the CDC right up against the beadhead, between the beadhead and the peacock
herl. The barbs should point up and back. Tie off CDC and trim. Half hitch
black thread and glue.
4. Go fishing!
