Name: Murione Murione was born to the Lord and Lady Holder of Benden Hold some twenty-five turns ago. She comes somewhere in the middle of Yovian and Andrel's brood, not the oldest, not the youngest..not the most pretty, not the smartest..not even the shyest, though she did seem to hold that title for a while. All in all she felt just..average, and a little left out of her family, big as it was. When she was eight turns old she was fostered out to Lady Terenia of Lemos (and her husband--but he doesn't really count :). Terenia and Yovian weren't exactly best friends, but they did share a lot of the same views, hightly traditional and conservative..particularly about raising daughters. From the moment Muri arrived at Lemos she was constantly reminded of how she should act, what she should say and not say, who she should talk to and in what manner.. In the six turns she spent at Lemos, Muri absorbed a lot of what she was being told, as well as a few of the contradicting things that she saw. Because both Yovian and Terenia advocated traditional ways, but they both still ran..basically everything about their holds. So Muri lost a little of her shyness, discovering that if people /knew/ how you felt it was far easier on everyone. But just knowing that wasn't entirely enough, and she still has a very hard time letting out anger..or even realizing that she's feeling it. As she started to grow older, she came to realize that one of the reasons she was sent to Lemos was that Lady Terenia had a son just a few turns older than herself. It didn't take a great leap of logic to figure out what her mother and his had been thinking.. and as she turned the idea over in her mind, she didn't really find any reason to object to it. He was nice, friendly..they got along well enough.. She didn't get much further than that, as she wasn't so blind as to miss the fact that he was quite totally in love with another girl. Shortly after his wedding, she was sent back to Benden. It was soon enough after that she connected the two incidents, at least in her own mind. But there are other things to occupy the mind of a fourteen turn old girl, and she didn't dwell on it..a lot. She spent a lot of time getting to know the new brothers and sisters who'd arrived in the time she was gone, as well as the nieces and nephews who were starting to appear. But through it all she still felt rather isolated, and tended to withdraw into silent thinking whenever people started discussing thing that had occured during the six turns she'd been away. A few turns later Yovian and Andrel retired to the south, to help take charge of the administration of the Landing Excavation, leaving one of Muri's brothers in place as Lord Holder. Several of her siblings accompanied them, but Muri wasn't among them, not feeling like moving to yet /another/ place. She remained in the north, spending time with what family was still there. However, after a turn or so of this she started to feel lonely again..she wasn't particularly close to anyone up north, and she started to wonder if maybe she hadn't given the idea of moving south enough thought. She managed to arrange a dragonride from Benden Weyr to Monaco, the closest weyr to Landing. She arrived there with every intention of heading to Landing as soon as she could, but ended up lingering for several sevendays, meeting people and just..getting used to southern life. Weyrlife as well, she found, took some getting used to, and eventually, nervousness about that is what finally brought her to Landing. There wasn't all that much to do at Landing, everyone was absorbed in their work and didn't have much time for her--and she, of course, had very little interest in AIVAS. In fact, the computer tended to confuse her more than spark any sort of curiousity. So after a few sevendays she headed back to the Weyr, remembering that she'd felt welcome there, and hoping that she could find a place for herself. Upon her return, she discovered that the Weyr was in the midst of Search, and surprisingly enough, found her sister Elizabethe , whom she had not seen for a long time, among the candidates. Elizabethe was much changed from when Muri'd last seen her, being more withdrawn and fearful of people. Muri didn't mind that, she was just thrilled to be able to spend time with her sister..and her sister's friend, K'mon. How K'mon, rider to blue Dremeth, had managed to become friends with the shy, quiet Beth is anyone's guess, but as the three (four :) of them spent more time together, Muri and Kim would often talk about their fears and worries for Beth..a discussion which one night, led to them talking about their own feelings of lonliness. The next few weeks went by quickly, the two of them attempting to sort out how they felt about each other, and ending up comforting each other when neither Beth nor K'mon's sister Laren impressed. Beth and Laren were both upset by this and decided that they couldn't remain at the Weyr, heading out into the jungle to deal with their feelings. Kim and Muri were left at the weyr..worried about their sisters, but finding more and more that they needed and cared for each other. By the time that particular group of weyrlings graduated, the two of them were deeply in love, and growing moreso every day. Both of their sisters returned, and Kim tried to make peace with most of his family. Beth, after being attacked by a jungle feline, was been confined for many months to the Weyr, giving all of them time to talk again. Kim and Muri moved into a new weyr together a few turns ago, one with ground access and more space. They were both pretty happy, except for the times when their relatives started to get to them. While she was pregnant with their first child, the decided to officially weyrmate, which settled the last few feelings of uneasiness in Muri's mind. A few months after that, they welcomed their first child into the world. The 'hatchling' (as Dremeth says :) was a healthy boy, named Kurin. When Kurin was about eight months old, at about the same time as Beth was preparing to stand at yet another hatching, Muri found out she was pregnant again. She and K'mon tried to deal with that while they worried about Beth, and K'mon's half brother Tylan , who'd developed an attatchment for her. Most of their worries were removed when Beth impressed to a blue dragon, almost the very first thing. Beth's weyrlinghood was a fairly calm time for Muri, despite the growing estrangement from her parents. She and K'mon were still very close, and even though she was confined to bed for the last months of her pregnancy, she gave birth to a healthy boy, whom they named Andey, after Muri's father. It was about this time that Monaco's headwoman, Martha, began to speak of retirement. Muri, among others, was assigned to new duties, hers being the running of the weyr's kitchens. She'd just discovered she was pregnant for a third time when Martha's retirement was announced and Muri found herself as Monaco's new headwoman. She recovered from that surprise, and fortunately this pregnancy has been much easier. There has, however, been some discussion over the fact that their weyr is becoming quite cramped. Recent Updates: Muri served as Monaco's Headwoman for well over twenty turns, watching her children grow up and the weyr change. Her eldest impressed a brown dragon shortly after he was old enough to stand, and a few years later he was followed by his sister Kasryn, who impressed a gold. Kasryn eventually transferred to Telgar Weyr to assist there, and a few turns after that Murione decided to step down from her position as Headwoman and take a break while she decided what next to do.
