L'ran of Belior Rising MUSH

Parents: Cotholders from Nerat
Family: (Aunt) Lucira
Significant Other: Uh.. heh.
Firelizards: Brown Demut, Green Chantra
Lifemate: Green Rylth
Her hide is a deeply colored, startlingly lush green marbled with an almost black pattern of speckles, veins and delicate streaks. Bright dots of emerald brilliance highlight the darker shade and add a lustrous sheen to the soft, supple dragonskin. Oh yea, she's a dragon. Nearly forgot to mention that. And a quite young one at that, no doubt her lifemate is nearby.

Position: Sunrise Wingrider (Weyrling)
Age: 20 turns
Description:
A young man in his late teens, his light brown hair is close cropped for the most part--a bit uneven, but definitely short. This leaves his whole face clear, his dark brown eyes expressive, but only slightly more so than the rest of his features. His voice tends to be soft, but he isn't shy about what he says. A frame of average proportions supports the rest of his body. A standard weyrling uniform is what he's wearing at the moment, vest, trousers and tunic in various states of repair, all looking very much like all the other weyrling's clothes. His boots are his own, of course, and look much worn. Apparently they've seen quite a bit of use recently. The knot of a Monaco Weyrling is affixed to his shoulder, a strand of vibrant green running through it.

L'ran: The whole story

Kid Stuff

Liran was born at Nerat Hold to a cotholder and his wife. This particular cotholder happened to be blessed with a younger sister who had been searched and impressed at Southern Weyr to (although there is dispute on this point from some of the other riders) the most wonderful blue dragon on Pern. Now, being cotholders, the family was pretty large. So when Lucira (the sister) and her weyrmate (who was weyrfolk, but never impressed) Paecyn offered to foster one of the children, they were accepted.

And so, Liran was carted off to the weyr at the tender age of eight turns. At that point he was old enough to be on his own a bit, at least within the confines of the weyr, but still young enough to be easily accepted into that group of weyr-children. The next few turns were fairly normal..getting into trouble, playing games, having fun. Soon, though, it was noticed that Liran and his friends were old enough to stand for a clutch, and the next group of eggs that hardened got to see them standing on the hatching grounds. He didn't impress, but neither did many of the others, so they weren't /too/ upset.

Moving On

However, by the time he was sixteen turns, he still hadn't impressed, and it was starting to become more than a little worrisome to him. He couldn't stand the sympathetic looks of friends who were now riders, or the reassurances of his aunt that 'next time there'll be an egg for you'. So to escape that, and because there really wasn't a whole lot for him to do at the weyr, he left. His aunt took him as far as Monaco, where he spent a few days figuring out where he was headed. Eventually he ended up at Cove Hold, where he became a general resident and helper. Being a holder was definitely a new experience, but one he was willing to try, if they'd only let him. He did, however, renew his friendship with another Southern Weyr resident, Tylan, who often visited Cove to see his half sister, who was a guard there.

Liran was glad for Ty's company, as that kept him from getting so bored with hold life that he couldn't stand it any longer. In fact, he was geting on quite well, with Ty's frequent visits to look forward to, and occasional trips to the closest weyr, Monaco, to spice things up. And there were things going on at Cove as well: gathers, intrigues, various rumors. So life wasn't unbearable; it was quite pleasant.

Searched Again, yikes!

Then Monaco's senior queen rose and clutched, and Liran found himself being searched by Aryn's green Nereith. He was more than a little distressed by this, having wanted to avoid the agony of standing again, but Nereith wouldn't hear of him refusing, and when she actually /spoke/ to him, there was no way he could say no. So on to Monaco he went, feeling somewhat silly, and very ambiguous. His candidacy was basically uneventful, though it felt as if it would never come to an end. But finally, the eggs began to hatch, and Liran stood on the sands with the other candidates. Things went pretty much as he'd expected, with candidates impressing all around him and not a dragonet glancing in his direction.

Finally, there was only one dragon left, a pretty little green who decided that he was just /wonderful/. L'ran was overcome, and he and Rylth spent that first night just.. being together. Their bond has only grown stronger through their weyrlinghood, and Rylth has started to mature enough to understand L'ran's relationship with Ty -- at least to the extent that he understands it himself.
