Name: Ciela Ciela's first love was music, to which she was introduced by her mother, Larin. Larin was not the most remarkable harper on Pern, but she was adequately talented -- unfortunately the talent didn't seem to pass down to her daughter, who simply could not get the knack. This was a source of frustration for Ciela for many turns, especially when compounded with the fact that she had shown a spark in her father's field, smithing. She vehemently refused to even see if she liked it. Eventually she came to realize that she simply wasn't going to develop any harperish talents and let that dream get put away as she looked for something else to do. The Starcraft came to mind, and as Larin said, "What else would the child of a smith and a harper do?" The heavens seemed poetical enough to suit any sort of artistic fancies she might have, and there was the added bonus of all that math and smith related-stuff, which she was beginning to grudgingly admit was pretty interesting. So when she passed her thirteenth turnday, Ciela, with the help of her parents, started making plans to head to the Starcraft. This was no small task, considering the hall itself was across the continent. A helpful trader wagon appeard to be the best choice, and Ciela set out. Being traders, their route was rather roundabout, but eventually, four months later, they arrived safely at the Crafthall in Igen. Fortunately for her, she managed to apprentice almost immediately. And so Ciela started her four turn apprenticeship to the starcraft, which ended, rather abruptly, one night in the Dawn Sisters Tavern when Master Keera promoted her to Journeyman. She was a bit flabbergasted by the new rank, and initially turned down a posting in favor of remaining at the hall and teaching. She'd been doing this for nearly nine months when her parents' twenty-fifth anniversary arrived. The journey to Tillek wasn't too long. Ciela managed to get a dragonride from Igen Weyr to High Reaches Weyr and rode runners in between. The trip back was more of a production, however. She managed to sail from Tillek to Ista Sea Hold, then caught a boat heading to Keroon Hold. She had every intention of continuing back to the hall from there, until she made a short stop at the beastcraft. That's when she met Csinonor. The two of them talked for hours until all of a sudden they both realized that maybe.. There were complications, of course. Csinonor was ten turns older than she (and more than ten inches taller) and already the father of a six turn old son. Ciela, for her part, was still posted at the hall. Rashly ignoring such things, the two continued to persue what looked to be a very promising relationship. It soon became more than just promising when Csinonor proposed to her and she accepted. Luckily for both of them the hall didn't object to Ciela's posting to Keroon Hold. Even more luckily, Corkin, Csin's son, didn't seem to object too much. After a brief return to the hall to settle up things, Ciela moved to Keroon and began her life as a posted starsmith. She was a bit surprised to find that she liked it a great deal -- with not so many scheduled classes, she had more time for the observing and theory that was her true interest. And, of course, she got to see a great deal more of Csin. Their engagement followed the precedent set by their courting days, by being extremely short. The two of them waylaid Craftmaster Lorianne of the herders and were married a scant two months after Ciela arrived at Keroon.
