DM&E SD10 549, for a long time, the only locomotive in DM&E colors, was in between jobs in this photo by Matthew J. Frahm taken at the Waseca yard in the fall of 1989.
The paint on this unit is definitely showing its age in this October 8, 1996, photo on the east leg of the wye at Winona, Minnesota by Jason Korth. It appears almost ghost-like compared to nearby FBY SD9 6609

Notes:
549 was the first and only unit painted in DM&E colors from the time DM&E came to being in 1986 until the time 550 was painted in June of 1989. 549 previously wore the Milwaukee Road's "Hiawatha" paint scheme. At one time, 549 was named "City of Watertown," but was soon renamed "City of Harrold." As the "Harrold" the 549 is adorned on the forward battery boxes by a basketball decal and the words "State 'B' Champs" in honor of the local basketball team.
This locomotive was sold to Indiana Railroad in December of 1997 and interchanged to CP 12/22/97.
