Face-to-face, in the streets, most people in Pensacola were very
encouraging. They figured to be - I grew up there. But so were the
people I met when I traveled to other cities. A few people said, "You
need to get back down there and play some football." But many more told
me, "Go and get paid, go get your money. You deserve what you're
asking for." Even most of the media seemed to be siding with me. I
appreciated that. Some of the media don't like to upset the NFL
establishment; it's much easier pointing the finger at "greedy
modern athletes." This time, I felt the media was more objective.
