Family First

This is chapter discusses Emmitts experiences growing up in his family. From when he started playing football at the age of eight to his mothers discipline and finally to his grandmother dying.

Book Excerpt:

Having a larger body, at times I felt like people were staring at me. Before some of my games, my mom had to bring my birth certificate with her. Otherwise other parents and coaches thought I was an older boy brought in to play as a ringer. By the time I turned eleven, I usually had to lose weight if I wanted to play in leagues with my own age group. Lose weight? I was growing, man! Growing and hungry, and most of my weight was muscle. Where exectly was I supposed to lose it? No matter how many miles I ran, sometimes I just couldn't
