1 March 2003 It has been almost 2 years since we last updated our site. Many thanks to those of you who have been checking in to see what’s happening here. Much has changed, so please follow through the site to become re-acquainted with Butterfly Meadows!. We are still hard at it. We lambed at Butterfly Meadows again this spring, first time in a couple of years. Carol was a happy little Shepherd. This was the best lambing year we’ve had (216%). No problems so far with 2 more ewes to go. Carol and I have been working and training our dogs, going to clinics and trials. Visiting our friends in Door County, Portage, Port Edwards area. Carol bought back most of the breeding flock which we sold to a friend a few years ago. We also sold the lamas to our shearer, who was building up his flock and need some guard animals. Last year we had many tragedies with the dogs, from Cap being very ill in the fall, to Jill hitting a tree at a full run and severely injuring her left shoulder and then discovering that she also had some very advanced disabling arthritis. The happy news, was Twig, Carol’s new puppy from the Chaffin’s – Queen/Moss breeding. He is extremely keen and works very calm. Carol is looking forward to training and working him. A big change for her, after years working with fast and furious Cap and Lad. We have been active with WWSDA, attending stock dog fun days, work days, trials and this coming summer will also be busy training and trialing our dogs. |
