I have 2 Border Collies, Jill 8 and Lad 6. Jill, who was my first dog, injured herself last year and is now retired from working sheep, but she is still my good buddy. Carol and I both decided that the best thing for me was to take over working Lad, who Carol had trained from puppy hood, because I could not bring myself to getting a new dog while Jill was still with us. Since Lad was already part of our pack, and didn’t care who he worked for just as long as he got to work, he became my dog and I didn’t feel like I was being disloyal to Jill. Lad and I trial some, do chores together, work at clinics, train together and will do some stock dog demos at various local events.
