With our late night adventure of a lifetime the previous day, we slept in. I fixed my chafed water traps by shortening them so they couldn't rub on the engine mount straps anymore. While doing this I discovered that my EGT ground wire had come loose. This no doubt caused my bogus readings the day before and I fixed it while being mad at myself for changing jets yesterday without questioning the strange temperature reading.
Tom was feeling ready to ride. What a bummer for him. He misses two days of our annual mountain ride and now no one wants to leave till after lunch.
After lunch we headed up to the front side of Lion's Head mountain. This is a well known spot. We usually have to resort to "secret" spots here to find good play spots that aren't tracked up. But when we got there, it was like we had gone to heaven. Almost the entire mountain was untracked virgin powder. A group of about ten Acrtic Cat riders and a Summit X pilot were staring at the first big hill looking exhausted. They seemed to be a little cocky and looking down the end of their noses at our two old Polaris and three short tracks. When I roosted over the top on the first try, it was an awesome feeling! To be fair, I think these were all really big guys (250-350 lbs.) and I'm just 160 lbs., so I had an advantage, but it was still a rush. Then Ken went higher on his MXZ600 than these longtracked Cats had gotten after working the hill for some time. Tom and Ken quicky made it over the top, then Steve and Scott followed. The whole upper bowl was completely untouched. We spent the rest of the day "jet-skiing" around in the 2'-3' of fresh fluff in the bright sun.
When we got back, I took my primary clutch spring out since I was still only getting 8600 RPM. I'd take it to the dealer in the morning.
