Day Two

Sunday 2/7/99

It snowed all day. It had snowed so much the night before that we decided to hit our "warm-up" hill close to town since some of the guys couldn't make it up yesterday. We played all day on these hills that are normally easy and boring. It took many many tries to get up the steeper back side of this hillside that lies just off the main trail out of town toward Lion's Head and Two Top mountains.

While riding, I noticed a couple of problems with my sled I would have to address soon:

My throttle would open when I turned the handlebars to the right. (Editor's note: this is not the kind of thing you mention to your wife back in Minnesota during a late-night phone call!)

I was only turningn about 8500 RPM when I should be spinning 9000 RPM.

We also started seeing a return of the problems with getting Scott's 96 MXZ440 started. We've had this problem with his sled out west before.

After a great day, we came back soaked.

I adjusted my secondary clutch to try to get more RPM.

Then we ate at The Dude and hit the sack.
