We rolled into town mid afternoon. Since I hadn't quite finished my sled before I left, I had a few more things to work on. While I wrenched, the other four guys went for a little warm-up ride to the nearest hill.
I had to install a gas can rack (EZ Pak), swap my handlebars to an SLP CrMo bar with a more comfortable bend, and grease the whole sled.
While doing this work, I discovered a leaking carb float bowl. Hmmm, I wonder how long that's been dripping gas on the coils! When tightening the bowl screws didn't cure it, I ran to the dealer for a new gasket. When the gasket didn't cure it, I took the carb apart and discovered a cracked float bowl! Weird. After a few tense moments at the dealer (what if I can't ride at all because I can't find a float bowl!) I found one. While changing the float bowl, I noted chafing on the water traps and one of the coolant lines. I made notes for future replacement.
While I was doing this wrenching, the other guys were discovering that the large amount of fresh snow was making even our "warm-up" hill nearly un-climbable. It was looking like a VERY good week was ahead of us!
