Hare Scrambles is yet another off-road motorcycle race with a funny name. Rumor has it that the name came from chasing rabbits in the desert back when that wasn't politically incorrect. Today, a local Hare Scrambles in Minnesota is a contest to see who can go the farthest in two hours around a course that is theoretically 1/3 MX track, 1/3 grass track, and 1/3 woods trail. The courses are about 5-15 miles long and since everyone starts in one big pack, the action is intense from the moment the gun goes off at the dead-engine start.
