Preface: I've been aware of rally racing since 1980 when I bought my first "Off Road" magazine. As the SCCA says: "Real cars, on real roads, going real fast" had an immediate appeal to me. I've been a motor head ever since I can remember. I've never been interested in races that just go around in a circle (NASCAR, sprint cars,…) or feature vehicles that have little in common with what you and I drive (Indy, Formula 1,..). The first time my rally interest intensified was when Kaari and I did an off-road version of a TSD trap rally called "March of Dimes" in my Jeep in the early 90s. Later I discovered there were road rallies held locally on open roads (low speeds) that anyone could enter. These weren't the unlimited speed events that ProRally was, but they were a fun and affordable way to spend a day with other car enthusiasts.
