Jim at MAC event at the Dakota County Vo-Tech autocross course.

Autocross is like a "parking lot road race". It is a really cheap and safe way to get a taste of road racing, improve your driving skills, and learn how your car handles at its limits. The course is defined by cones, hitting them gets you a time penalty. The speeds are kept low by the narrow and twisting course. Each car races against the clock. The cars are divided into classes based on their capability (so your pick-up won't have to race a Corvette).

After our summer schedule opened up, Jim realized some of the local Autocrosses were quite close to home and cheap to try, so Jim did the remaining events in Minnesota Autosports Club (MAC) autocross series.
