GOOD-BYE NEW YORK, HELLO AMERICA
HAPPENINGS
Well, when the smoke cleared after last year's premiere of A SERVANTS' CHRISTMAS ~ The Musical which I wrote with Drew Jansen (How to Talk Minnesotan, The Gangster Musical etc. etc.) we reveled in great reviews which percolated $170,000 gross receipts. Not bloody shabby for History Theatre's 600 seat theatre! Click above for a nine minute sample of some of the songs and scenes as performed opening night.
I loved working with Drew Jansen ... the guy's a raving genius who I am convinced is channeling Cole Porter. Therefore, we are busily engaged in writing a new, four person musical called ZELDA FITSZGERALD and F. Scott.
We are expecting to do a public workshop preview on Monday Feb. 28th at the Pantages Theatre in Minneapolis. Michael Brindisi of Chanhassen Dinner Theatre is very interested in the show and is directing the workshop scenes and songs. When the time gets closer, E-mail me (Talk To Me link in Contents page) to get the time straight and/or get tickets. Probably it will be a "suggested donation" of $5 type affair.
If you are not in the area, and are interested in possibly producing the show, E-mail me and we will send you a DVD of the workshop, so you can see where we're going with the material.SALEM'S DAUGHTERS, an older play of mine, was revived this fall and it surprised me. I felt it was a darn good script. If you are interested in possibly producing a period tragedy, dealing with the Salem witchcraft trials and with a bejillion super roles for strong women, I'll send you a script.
