Biographical Details

only for the insatiably curious

or the really, really bored

Name: Beth Whiteman Rang

Aliases: Iri, Irielle, RubberFuzz (Rubberstamping pseudonym), Lady Irielle Antonia Perez (SCA name), Irielle Adorn (a pen name)

Birthdate: March 20th (the first day of Spring in certain years)

Physical Nature: Female, short, round, blue eyes, glasses and curly ash-blonde hair

Social Disposition: Shy and introverted. Prone to warmth and humor among friends

Ethnic Background: Ok, I admit it. I'm a mutt. I suppose the politically correct description would be diverse. Very diverse. The two cultures which dominate though, both in terms of blood and personality, are Irish and Chamorro. Sadly, according to the most recent census, I'm the only person listed as part Caucasian and part Pacific Islander in St. Joseph, WI. It's fun to be distinctive, but it would be more fun to have other Chamorros around.

Relationship status: Married

Parental status: Busy new mom to Will (aka William Basil Rang) born August 18th of this year just a little over a month early. Ack!

Present Occupations: Full-time Mom and aspiring writer

Current residence: St. Joseph, Wisconsin (Just over the St. Croix river from Stillwater, MN)

Places I've lived: California, Arizona, New Mexico, the island of Guam, Mississippi, Minnesota and finally Wisconsin

My favorite places to visit: In Wisconsin: Door County, Bayfield and Madison; Otherwise: Washington, D.C., Tucson AZ, and Walt Disney World

Dream vacation: France, Italy, England, Ireland and Scotland (via the QEII)

Likes: Fuzzy blue blankets, thick books, folk music, chocolate, parodies, board games, autumn, independent bookstores, Civilization II for the Mac, and Rachmaninoff

Dislikes: Skyscrapers, big city traffic, email spam, cigarette smoke, high bridges and overpasses, insects and violent movies

Current Obsessions: Pamela Dean's novel Tam Lin, intentional communities, snailmail, and Jane Austen books/related films

Vices: I don't drink or smoke, but every once in a while I crave Godiva chocolates and fluffy Regency romance novels.

Hobbies: Reading, the SCA, dance, choreography, boardgames, mail art, collage and scrapbooks

Pet Peeve: People who write about trying to "loose" weight instead of "lose" weight. I keep wondering exactly where they are setting their weight loose, and hoping it doesn't end up on my hips.

Favorite typo seen recently: in a trip report a woman meant to write about "a great SHOW of patriotism", but ended up typing about "the great SOW of patriotism"

Adjective I use too often: cool

Favorite Books: Tam Lin by Pamela Dean, War for the Oaks by Emma Bull, Pride & Prejudice, and Persuasion both by Jane Austen

Favorite Bands: the Indigo Girls, Alan Parsons Project, Moxy Fruvous and Gaelic Storm

Favorite tv show: Currently? It's a tossup between Trading Spaces on TLC and Cooking Thin on the Food Network. We don't have cable so I only watch tv on vacations. Maybe that's a good thing. Anyone want to decorate our family room?
