Once a year, "Sesame Street Live" comes to the Target
Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This year marks the
second time that we treated the kids to the show.
It's a rare opportunity for the kids to see their
favorite Sesame Street characters perform live on stage.
All three of our kids eagerly awaited the start of the
show. When the room darkened and the curtains opened
Cole let out a squeal as soon as he spotted Big Bird, Ernie, Bert,
Elmo, Oscar, and the rest of the gang coming out onto the
stage.
They really put on a good show and I would encourage
anyone who has young children to go and let the kids
have some fun. For a good deal of the time, Cole stood on
my lap, soaking in all of the on-stage activities.
Cole brought his stuffed Elmo. His Elmo is
not of the "tickle-me" variety. I am very thankful that
he never showed any interest in wanting a "tickle-me"
Elmo stuffed animal.
At first Cole was afraid of the characters when they
came out to wander in the audience. He warmed up to
them soon enough and wanted to go up and dance with
them on the stage at one point!
Andrea, our oldest daughter, enjoyed the show almost as
much as our younger kids. She fell into the spell of
Sesame Street, smiling, laughing, and singing along with
the characters.
Those Honker characters are pretty big and can look
intimidating to a two and four year old. Julia, also
enjoyed seeing the critters up close and wasted no time
taking in all of the experience.
Watching Sesame Street Live with your kids has an amazing
effect on adults too! There was a few times during the
show that I found myself waving and saying "Hi" to Big
Bird... and for a moment or two I thought he saw the kid
in me and waved back! :)
