YOUNG ADULT PRIORITY
RECOMMENDATIONS
FIRST STEPS:
- DONE - Establish and
facilitate gatherings of young adult coordinators, i.e. parish young adult ministries and
independent young adult groups such as Catholic Alumni Club, Dominics, East Side Young
Adults, etc. to support their work in planning educational, spiritual development, social
and community building programs.
- ONGOING - The
leadership of CEFM/CYMS establish and maintain educational opportunities for their staff
regarding the needs and concerns of young adults.
- ONGOING - Educate
pastors and parish leadership of the role of young adults within all parish ministries.
- Educate the Archdiocesan Board of Education, the Archdiocesan
Pastoral Council, the Presbyterial Council and other Archdiocesan leadership about the
needs and concerns of young adults.
- DONE - Elect a
representative for young adult ministry to the Archdiocesan Board of Education.
- DONE - Convene a young
adult advisory committee to meet regularly to be a voice for young adults within the
parishes and agencies of the Archdiocese.
SECOND STEPS:
- Provide educational and ministerial formation opportunities for
parish young adult coordinators.
- DONE - Sponsor regular
forums and listening sessions for young adults to collect current information about their
needs and concerns.
- DONE - An Archdiocesan
staff person be assigned to act as liaison to the Archdiocesan Young Adult Ministry Team.
THIRD STEPS:
- Work with the Catholic Spirit to develop a regular column to
educate the full Church regarding young adults.
- ONGOING - Work with
other local publications and media, i.e. Twin Cities Reader, City Pages, etc., to inform
the public about young adults.
- Keep abreast of the demographics of the Archdiocesan young adult
population.
- IN PROCESS - Develop and coordinate an
Archdiocesan young adult conference.
- DONE - A representative
from this Archdiocese to be actively involved in the National Catholic Young Adult
Ministry Association (NCYAMA) for support and to stay current of national trends in young
adult ministry.
