TinyMUSH Admin Tools

Here are two closely-related packages of makefiles and perl scripts that I use to make managing news and help files a whole lot easier.

News Maker (Tuesday, 17-Mar-1998 09:55:47 CST) (gzipped tar file)
This is a set of perl scripts and a Makefile that I use to create the news.txt file for my mush. I have a library of topics, each in an individual text file, and this setup converts them to a news.txt file automatically. I find it a lot easier than editting the huge news.txt file itself. Makes use of Myrddin's "newsformat" script, slightly modified.

Unpack this into an emptry subdirectory and read the README file.

Here's the 01index file BEFORE and AFTER being run through Myrddin's newsmaker. This shows you both what makeindex.p does, and what newsmaker does.

Help Maker (Monday, 15-Dec-1997 08:28:32 CST) (gzipped tar file)
Very similiar to newsmaker, but there were enough differences that I just made a separate tool out of it. Don't try mixing them, use them in separate directories. (You can share the common binaries if you want, but there's only one of them, so...I didn't bother. I did make a symbolic link from one of them for my own purposes.)
Tinymush 2.2.3 Reformatted Helpfile Monday, 15-Dec-1997 08:29:32 CST (gzipped tar file)
This is the same helpfile I'm running myself, after I spent an afternoon using helpmaker on it to clean it up. This on now has all topics in proper sorted order, topic keyword lines are consistantly UPPERCASE, and in particular, the "FUNCTION CLASSES" topic is now up to date. It's been missing functions for a long time... I got ambitious and ran it through a spell checker, too. (It was very very clean!) Next time I feel ambitious I may go back in and update all the See Also references.
Mush code profiling
I have two versions of profiling scripts available.
