I'm using CVS with :ext: access into my repository. JBuilder insists on asking me for a password even though I don't use one. How can I make this work? |

Make sure you have JBuilder patches, if you haven't already do so.
http://www.borland.com/devsupport/jbuilder/downloads/jb5_en_all_001/ I believe this is a known bug in JBuilder. I have a "work-around". I believe JBuilder is reading your CVS password file to make sure you have a password for your CVSROOT before attempting CVS operations. This is appropriate for "pserver", but not for "ext". The "work-around" is to give JBuilder something to look at so that it does not think it needs to prompt you. Add your CVSROOT to your CVS password file with a bogus password. Your CVS password file is in "%USERPROFILE%\.cvspass" or "$HOME/.cvspass" unless your are setting the environment variable "CVS_PASSFILE". Your password file is likely "C:\Documents and Settings\n119622\.cvspass" on Windows NT or "/home/n119622/.cvspass" on UNIX, where "n119622" is your OS user ID. Append your CVSROOT to this file.
:ext:n119622@ibtest02:/export/home/n119622/CVS AAAAAAAA
where AAAAAAAA is a bogus password that will never be used by CVS. JBuilder will see it and know that it is not necessary to prompt you for a password. | |
