But it never seems to stay that way. This all got started when I found a new and better video card that I just had to have.
The card was a nVidia Gforce 5700 Ultra Dual DVI/VIVO card by XFS. A sweet little card, but one that required a 300 Watt power supply, a power rating that far exceeded the power capacitiy of my poor little Shuttle case.
So a new motherboard and case it was, I had a Pentium 4 and some memory floating around unloved. I picked up a Shuttle motherboard, MT63 and a case by Antec. I picked the Aria case due to it's small size. All in all a nice simple project.
I've built lots and lots of machines, this should only be a short afternoon project, right?
The motherboard wouldn't power up. To make matters worse, there wasn't a speaker on the board to give off beeps. Just appeared to be dead. I spent a lot of time trying to get it to work before giving up.
It was my birthday, all my credit cards were clear, and I had some extra cash lying around. Perhaps you can begin to see where this is going, since I was tired of playing around with this and not getting anywhere.
But first I needed a firewire card. One that had motherboard style connectors on it so I
could plug the front pannel of the Aria in. After a couple of days, I found it, the
